Silver Stone Academy : A Brief History

For centuries there has been magic in Europe, but only in the last thousand years were most of the modern magical schools founded. Silver Stone Academy is one of the older of the schools still around today. The castle itself was built in the year 569, approxamently, near the base of the mountain, one of many in a mountain range, and by the ocean. It became a monastry for the next three hundred years, but was attacked and pillaged by Vikings in the late 800's or early 900's, just as Viking attacks were becoming fewer and fewer. In 1043, Silver Stone Academy (which was named after the strange and precious silver-coloured stones that had been found in the nearby mountains) was founded by Frederik 'Dragonhead' Paugboun and Marissa Serpenjit. A few years later, in 1052, two new teachers arrived (Ailaga 'Owllong' Tsawargoll and Tarmikos Bafferlin), who formed the last of the two houses.

For the next 600 years, SSA proved to be a successful school. It competed in many TriWizard Tournaments and EuroWizard Competitions, winning more than a few times, and educated some of the most famous witches and wizards when they were in their teenage years, including Chanassa Tzek (1196 - 1278) and Eiskelerth Rayauth (1420 - 1506). However, in the year 1709, SSA was forced to close. It wasn't until 1897 that the school reopened.

The castle of Silver Stone isn't the only thing in the area, of course. It's at the bottom of the mountain, situated a little ways up, and surrounded by a lengthy forest that goes on for miles around. In the forest there is life, mainly small animals, deer, and wolves. Hundreds of years ago there were known to be giants in the mountian range area, but the clan went extinct. Today there are no magical creatures very near to SSA, but overforesting and human contact in the North may cause the centaur herds there to move down South.

At the base of the mountain is a village, known simply as 'the Village', which was built (or rather rebuilt, since a village was set in the same area before dying out) in the 1920's. It's small, with a few shops and homes, and both magical folk and muggles live there. The main customers are the students of the school, who are free to come down after school and on the weekends. Just past the Village is the ocean, which is the main way of transporation in and out of the Village and SSA.

The Site : an OOC History

Silver Stone is an online role play forums based on the Harry-Potter series. Unlike most other HP sites, the forum is not based at Hogwarts, but at Silver Stone Academy, a small European magic school.

Silver Stone Academy was created in the Summer of 2004, and was originally on a freewebs site and proboards forum, both of which were abandoned. In February 2005 this forum was created, and between summer '05 and summer '07 it has had four successful terms.
